6 Golden Rules Applied By Every Successful Blog

How can you achieve great results with a website?

In this small guide, we give an overview of the basic rules applied by every successful blog.

Many different aspects contribute to success. Let’s now move on to the six rules one by one.

1. Target a Specific Audience

The first element of the formula consists of having a targeted aspect and theme. These must be closely linked to giving a coherent overall image.

For example, you can write about WordPress and include a workshop that creates a complete site for a restaurant business.

So, concentrate on always dealing with the same issues (obviously considering relevant topics) and choosing related graphics and images.

For example, if you talk about cooking, choose a theme and photos suitable for the main topic of your blog.

2. Quality Content

The second element concerns the attention you pay when creating your content.

Your blog, to get a good amount of visits, must be in a specific niche. Too often, people launch blogs that cover so many different topics and realize they can’t keep up with them.

Or, some people work a lot in the production of content, only to realize that no one is coming to read them because they are not attractive enough for the web community.

If you can accurately identify your target audience, it will be much easier for you to create content that hits the mark, targeted marketing campaigns, and successful promotions.

So, in summary, if you want to start a successful blog, keep these three elements in mind:

  • targeted audience;
  • content built according to the needs of the public;
  • aspect designed to involve the niche.

These are three key factors to be able to get off to a good start. But now, let’s move on to the third point.

3. Follow SEO rules

Since you will be committed to creating quality, valuable content for your specific audience, do not miss considering the importance of SEO or search engine optimization.

By carefully observing these rules, you will lead your site to have a higher ranking among the search engine results, and consequently, you will get many more visits, guaranteeing success for your blog.

Suppose you only focus on producing quality content without optimizing it for specific keywords, for example. In that case, people will never find it in organic results, and your visits will be few.

The web provides you with a vast and easy-to-reach audience, but you need to know how search engines work and follow their rules when creating both the site and the content.

The best investment you can make is to study SEO best practices.

4. Be Social

Whenever you create content optimized for a keyword, your presence on social networks becomes a fantastic outlet to launch your latest content for a specific problem and a specific audience.

What you need to do initially is test the territory, studying which social sites could be where your potential visitors spend the most time.

Once found, start creating targeted social profiles (that is, they respect your site’s central theme and appearance).

Then study the numbers of conversions coming from social networks through Google Analytics and monitor which channel brings more traffic and which less.

Finally, be there, every day. Share, talk to people, get to know them, collaborate on projects, and network. This is a determining factor in creating a successful blog.

5. Guest Blogging

Find prominent blogs in your niche (at least with 5-10k daily visits) and submit your contribution. This will help you increase:

Of course, when you write an article that will then be published on another blog, always make sure to study the site’s audience and understand what the hot topics that generate more discussions are.

For example, look at which articles receive the most shares and study which ones generate the most conversations in comments.

Then, draw your conclusions and try to develop a piece that represents who you are, what you believe, and what you offer, but at the same time worry that it will still be of interest to the readers of the blog you are collaborating with.

6. Keep Your Blog Safe

Using outdated versions of WordPress, themes, or plugins puts your blog at risk. An outdated platform exposes your site to cyberattacks that exploit known vulnerabilities. Updates to your tools are not just annoying notifications but often valuable improvements that fix security issues.

Set aside some time and check the following points:

  • Do you use complex and unique login data?
  • Are you one of those who use the same password for many different services?
  • Do you use your birth date as a password, or maybe, simply 1234?

Think again and quickly act. Choose a password that is strong and unique to WordPress.

Use plugins that improve WordPress security, such as “Wordfence Security,” for example.

Is your WordPress installation up to date? If the answer is no, make the platform and theme updates now. Also, be sure to save all content on your site regularly and following a strict schedule.

Conclusion

By following these six steps, you will spread the word about your website around the internet. These strategies will help you create a successful blog.

  1. Hi Erik and Vishwajeet. These are great golden rules for bloggers to live by! I think #2 is hard to really explain to new bloggers. They may at first think it’s long-form content over 2500 words but it does NOT have to be that way! It’s more about the quality of the words and how useful they are to others in their target market. I’d add consistency is key too 🙂 One cannot blog one day and then wait months again to write again on their blog if they want to treat it as a business.

  6. Hello Erik, love the advice about narrowing down your audience group. Things like content calendar and monetization get easy when we focus on serving a specific audience instead of everyone. It allows you to get into the mind of an ideal client, offer the right solution and build trust over time.

Most new bloggers want to target a broader niche and be everywhere, thinking that targeting a small segment will limit their earning potential. They must realize that they can upgrade their niche anytime as they grow.
